If you were writing to encourage the Christians who are facing persecution, you would write about hope and about what the future holds. Peter spends much of his second letter doing just that -- talking about the eventual destruction of the world and the second coming of Christ. Hope is about looking by faith beyond the pain and difficulties of this present world to the future that is coming. We need to live in the present with a view toward the end times. Jesus meant what He said, and He’ll be back. The question we will be asking is, “Do you really believe what you believe is really real?”
